Discover the campus
At the heart of the world's leading wine-producing region, the University of Bordeaux's Institute of Vine and Wine Science (ISVV) is a multidisciplinary centre for research, higher education and development that seeks to meet the future challenges of the wine industry.
The ISVV brings together research, training and technology transfer teams from multiple partners in the wine industry on the Bordeaux site. A 10,000-square metre building on the INRAE site in Villenave d'Ornon is home to part of the research teams and over 600 students.
It opened its doors in January 2009. Over 60% of the the programme was financed by the Aquitaine Regional Council, as well as by the European Union (FEDER), the French Government, the Gironde Departmental Council, Bordeaux Metropole, INRAE and the Bordeaux Wine Council (CIVB). The ISVV now has the status of a University of Bordeaux institute. It upholds strong ties with the wine industry, in particular the CIVB, and develops technology transfer initiatives with the Inno’Vin cluster.
